What to expect at a Devizes Evening WI meeting

What happens at the meeting

If you have never been to a WI meeting, here is what you can expect: Our evening starts with a welcome from the President followed most months by our guest speaker.

Recently there have been a wide variety of topics ranging from Walking to the South Pole to Belly dancing. We also have cookery and flower demonstrations. Then there is a chance to natter to each other over a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits. The secretary then goes through the correspondence and forthcoming events and there are reports from our Skittles team, lunch, book, garden and whist clubs.

No evening would be complete without Any Other Business followed by our raffle.

WI Life, the national magazine, is sent by post to every member 8 times a year. There are many events organized by the Wiltshire WI Federation , day trips, holidays and many other activities. A newsletter (for a small subscription ) comes from the Wiltshire Federation with details of forthcoming federation events across the county.

Denman College is the WI own residential college near Oxford, where there are many interesting residential and day courses, such as cookery, art and craft to name but a few. Any member can attend the courses and the programme is published in the WI Life magazine.
